Retinal Surgery
Retina is a layer which is located in the inside of the eye, and is composed of several layers of nerve cells. The most common retinal disease which requires immediate surgical intervention is Retinal Detachment (or Retinal Ablation). Retinal Detachment happens when the Retina is dislocated from its place which causes visual loss. Diseases which most likely require surgical intervention of the Retina (or Vitrectomy) are: hemorrhages of the vitreous (most often to Diabetics), membranes above the retinal layer (Epiretinal Membranes), Macular Hole and as we mentioned above Retinal Detachment.

Vitrectomy is the most complicated microsurgery procedure which allowes the approach into the depth of the eye. It serves in treating eye diseases of the posterior segment. Vitrectomy is performed only in advanced and specialized centers since it requires a specific training of the eye surgeon just the same it requires specific material and medical equipment. In our clinic, already now a considerable number of viterctomy operations have been performed.
